The Quality Engineer, working in an engineering-centric low-volume, high-mix, quick reaction environment, shall refine and monitor established processes to assure reliable product is being delivered to our customers on time, meeting or exceeding expectations and specifications. This position requires a thorough knowledge of Quality Assurance practices and principles and a broad understanding of AS 9100/ISO 9001 quality systems.
Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols in a low-volume, high-mix, quick reaction environment
Collaborates with engineering manufacturing and program management functions to ensure appropriate quality standards are in place
Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective action plans for recurring discrepancies
Creates and maintains quality documents, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. Develops and implements an audit plan to assure compliance to internal policies and processes and program requirements
Implements training to build Quality awareness among employees
Prepares Quality reports for senior management, problem solving and CI initiatives as required
Analyzes Quality flow down statements and determines applicability to suppliers
Participates in design reviews to evaluate adherence to technical processes and procedures
Analyzes supplier performance and develops tracking metrics and improvement plans for identified problem areas
Travels as needed
Bachelor’s Degree in: Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum 10 years' experience in supporting design, development, manufacturing and/or supplier quality activities
OR, Master’s Degree in: Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years' experience in supporting design, development, manufacturing and/or supplier quality activities.
Computer literacy with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
Must be a US Citizen to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement and AS 9100/ISO 9001 quality systems experience.
Strong technical aptitude with problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment
Experience in the Space and/or Defense Industries
Active DoD security clearance preferred
Strong ability to focus, prioritize, and multi-task successfully to drive tasks to closure. Ability to plan and perform own tasks with minimal supervision.
Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
