Work Schedule : Mon-Fri 9am to 5:30pm
Phlebotomist II, collects and processes blood specimens for testing.
Draws and collects blood samples. Verifies records.
Labels, processes and delivers specimens for testing.
Maintains supplies and equipment.
May assist with coordinating and conducting blood drives, including interviewing and screening donors.
Consistently and independently follows established safety and infection control procedures. Intervenes in unsafe situations.
Responds to all inquiries concerning topics related to laboratory services and policies. Assists with procedural changes for necessary updates to laboratory manuals. Provides instruction to new associates and maintains and records training on appropriate checklists.
Documents and investigates issues and problems and provides resolution to customer needs. Communicates with physicians, nurses and other hospital staff and clients to obtain required clinical information necessary to complete testing and maintain compliance. Participates on interdepartmental, hospital and departmental committees as appropriate.
Maintains patient information files as required by State and Federal regulations.
Certified Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). Or equivalent phlebotomy certification organization.
Education and Work Experience:
HS or Equivalent
Required: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Completion of a Phlebotomy course through a local community college or other organization
Required: Six months of experience in hospital, medical office, or clinical laboratory functioning in a job title encompassing use of phlebotomy skills and/or specimen processing. Preferred: Experience performing skin punctures; Knowledge of medical terminology Keyboarding
